In today's fast-paced world, many of us are overwhelmed by stress, anxiety, and uncertainty about the future. It often feels like there's no time to pause, take a breath, and gain a fresh perspective.
This is where meditation can be transformative. By practicing meditation, we cultivate a sense of awareness—a state of being where we step back from the constant chatter of the mind, intense emotions and reactivity that come with daily life. Within this awareness lies profound peace and freedom.
In this course, you will explore various meditation techniques designed to help you experience deep meditation and establish a meaningful, lasting practice. Meditating in a group setting also provides unique strength and support, enhancing the journey for each participant.
Week 1: Building the Foundation
We will focus on the core principles of meditation—posture, breath, and self-inquiry—delving into the true nature of the “self.” This exploration allows us to cultivate awareness, the essential foundation of a deep and transformative meditation practice.
Week 2: Letting Go
We will explore the Vedantic philosophical approach to meditation, with a focus on the art of “letting go.” This means releasing old thought patterns, emotional reactivity, and self-limiting beliefs. Through this practice, we create space for a more expansive and authentic experience of our true selves.
Week 3: Inclusion and Wholeness
We will explore meditation through the philosophy of Kashmir Shaivism, viewing ourselves and our connection to the world through a lens of wholeness and inclusion. This approach fosters deeper compassion and empathy for both ourselves and others, allowing us to embrace an expanded sense of self and a profound awareness of our interconnectedness with the world.
Week 4: Integrating Mindfulness/Making Friends with Time
We will examine our relationship with time and the essence of living in the present moment. Building on the techniques from previous weeks, we will explore how to incorporate these practices not only into a daily meditation routine but also into our moment-to-moment experience, bringing mindfulness into everyday life.
